Cavalry Portfolio Services

I was bored, so I decided to see who Cavalry actually was, and it looks like I hit the nail on the head from this entry.

From their website:
...one of the largest buyers of distressed debt in the United States...

It's still one of those things that my brain wants to spell as Calvary for whatever reason (see previous post).

Credit is an amazing thing. When you don't need it - everyone offers it to you. And when you do you can't it AT ALL. I have been banking at the same bank since High School. I've watched as one of their head loan officers rose from Teller to where she is today. When my credit was excellent she always tried to offer me loans. Never needed them just used my credit cards. And put money away. Well became unemployed for nearly a year. Drained everything - Maxed out cards closed 401K. Credit took nose dive. Now same bank wont grant me a $4000.00 loan, to get me back on my feet. I say this because the woman whose husband works for this company made some harsh statements and she needs to understand sometimes we hit hard times and it's most difficult to recover.

I am a Calvary employee and i am not surprised at the behavior of the other company butt kissers who have posted here. Then you run to the big shots and say goody goody for me look what i did just for you...kiss kiss kiss.

I am familiar with the day to day operations of the company.
What Clavary does is buy unclaimed and unverified debts in mass bulk from companies that have been unable to collect these debts. The validity of these debts is not checked nor questioned by Calvary. They work on the ratio of "x" amount of debts purchased compared to "x" amount that can actually be collected. They are often in favor of purchasing smaller amount debts as opposed to the larger amount debts. The reasoning behind this is individuals are often more likely to be "coerced" better yet harassed into paying these smaller debts.
They operate with two basic precepts of business practice. One is the premise the individual will fear their credit history will be ruined. The second is that through multiple and continuous phone contact harassment the individual will eventually be annoyed to the point he or she will simply pay the debt without contest.
Their reasoning is what is easier...contesting the allegation and enduring repeated harassing telephone contact while having ones credit severely damaged or simply paying the bill in question.
Calvary is dedicated to relentlessly pursuing these uncollected debts. Employees are instructed to use whatever means necesary to get this message across. This is to be done while at the same time spending as little time as possible interacting with the debtor. The more time spent conversing with the individual debtor the less opportunity to contact and coerce multiples of others debtors. The more time spent in conversation with the individual debtor results in more money per man hour per Calvary employee. Emphasis is placed upon contacting as many indiviuals as possible in as least time as possible. If an answering machine can be filled to capacity in a short amount of time this presents a hardship to the individual at very minimal time cost to the company.
Calvary employees are instructed to be very aggressive in coercing these individuals to pay these debts. They are relentless in pursuing this and are instructed to do so with whatever practical means are necessary.
The inside truth is that if every single individual who was contacted by them would file a complaint with the proper bureaus Calvary would be investigated and very quickly put out of business. But it will take every individual to do this and not just a percentage. Only the companies that recieve the most complaints are the actual ones who are investigated. Companies with less complaints are held lower on the lists.

My situation is fortunately much different than most of the people who have left comments here about this "company". I have perfect credit (average 844) and always have had. About a week ago I started getting calls from a "888" number and when I picked it up no one was there. This happened every night for 6 days. Finally on the seventh day I used the number on my caller ID and returned the call. According to the guy that answered they were looking for some woman whose debt they have bought and are trying to collect. I had never heard of the woman and the address that they gave is 20 miles from my home. The young man to whom I spoke was not particularly bright and had no idea why they were calling me other than my phone number was "given by this woman". I've had my phone number since 1991 so I doubt that this is a mistake. Do they expect deadbeats to actually give them their real phone number if they even have one. These credit collection people are a step below the deadbeats that they are after. Most of them are current or former deadbeats!!!

I would just like to say that this company has recently contacted my family for 2 days in a row yesterday they talked to my 19 yr old sister and she told them our brother who by the way they were calling for was in Iraq well today they call again asking for my brother now can the stupid bitch who said that calvary wasn't incompetent please tell me what might have changed between now and yesterday and i'm sorry but when my brother is over in Iraq serving this country there is not an open line of communication and there are months when we don't even hear from him so when we do hear from him we don't tell him about debt he may or may not owe over here. Excuse me for thinking that he has bigger things to worry about oh i don't know like being shot at. This company needs to get a grip!

I am the person who has posted several times in the past, and recently posted about emailing the owner of the company regarding the language used by "employees" of Cavalry on this blog. It has been 2 weeks now, and not a single post by these people on this blog. Could it be that maybe my tactic worked?! If so, that would be a small taste of revenge ....so sweet....

I ran into this company in January 06 when trying to buy a house. The process took a couple of months during this time cavalery portfolio suddenly shows up on my credit report for 529.79. I spoke to the collector and he advised me that this was for an ATT cingular account from 2001. I told him I was stationed in Korea during that time. He then passed me to the fraud dept who hung up on me before I could even speak to them. I finally got a hold of the fraud dept and they sent me a package. Looks like I have to file a police report, no prob there my ex is cop. I find the timing of the collections a little suspect, heard nothing for 5 years (checked my credit once a year) then all of the sudden I have this collection while buying a house. Thanks Calvary, even though you tried you didn't affect my APR on my 2 new houses!!!!!!!

Cavalry Portfolio Service has been calling my work. I have explained to them who I am and that the person they are looking for does not work here. I wanted a fraud packet mailed as explained in an earlier post but when I gave them the address, cavalry refused saying that was the address of said person.

Idea, why don't we all band together and go to their work and pick on them.

Maybe wire their outside phone junction box with 240 VAC? That would stop the calls but is it legal? Is what Cavalry Portfolio Service doing legal?

A loser family that has made a living off other family's bad luck.

And I quote: "comments about how i live in a trailer which i do not, and that im stupid, which i am not, my job is a career and i make a lot of money doing it."

Why are you on this web site???

You are wrong and know it. These are your words. You did a little searching and found this. And what where you searching for? Not a bad debt.

Get a life and a real job. You are an idiot!

Just because a law states it's OK to charge outragous interest does not make it right.

With the info pointed out in this forum, we all need to use the laws against Cavalry Portfolio Service.

Let's all hope this forces them to layoff Mr. & Mrs. debt collector and they end up on the other end of the sword.

for those that care, i'm gonna sorta reveal myself. i'm the person whose first posting was dated this:

posted by Anonymous : 8/03/2006 10:14 PM

I've posted many times since then (you'd have to look them all up. I always reference a previous post of mine, but I am always posted as ANONYMOUS), trying to give advice as to what to do if you are in a situation like i was which is I had a LEGITIMATE case against them, and exhausted every measure i found, and then eventually found this blog which helped me BEAT THEM. The traffic on this blog has slowed down some lately, but i will repost the advice here once again:
Make all the necessary phone calls (write down the dates, times, and who you spoke with. very important. be organized. stop it. it's not that tough. noone said it was gonna be easy) Talk to as many people as you can, send them everything they ask for, (making copies of EVERY correspondence between you and them) and then, WHEN none of that works, contact The Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org They will help you. I had also contacted the Federal Trade Commission based on the advice of MULTIPLE bloggers here, but they sent me a response saying they couldn't help me, but pointed me in the right direction, and also led me to believe that i personally had a legitimate case.
The Better Business Bureau will respond quickly, get in touch with Cavalry (who, i would think, they actually have a speaking relationship with considering how many complaints they have listed on their site), and respond to you promptly, AND WILL DEFINITELY HELP YOU TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. That is the absolute truth. Trust me. Don't do anything else (hire a lawyer, send a nasty letter, go to attorney general, write the congressman, etc...) until you do this. seriously. i'm not kidding. it worked. i'm living proof. do it. now. get off this site and file a complaint with bbb.

I am a victim of Identity theaft. Have been in Korea for almost 5 years.
Some one got a hold of one of my old checks right before my mail was forwarded to my new job overseas. I just was checking my credit report for giggles and found that some one opened an accouint in my name a few mnths back. Im scared to call these people to try and track down this eronues charge. Best bet...BBB I guess...

I am the Calvary employee who posted the entry dated for 11-27-2006. I forgot to add one very important bit of information. When Calvary calls we will ask for verifictaion of who you are via your name and Social Security Number. ~DO NOT GIVE YOUR SS# TO THE INDIVIDUAL ON THE PHONE...DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OTHER PERSONAL INFORMATION OTHER THAN YOUR NAME~.
The truth is we already have what we believe is to be your full name, physical address and SS# on file. But however we are not 100% sure if this pre-existing information is accurate...we are never sure any of our information is accurate or factual. Therefore we have to further validate your personal information before we can attempt to collect. In order to do this we need you to state your name and SS# on the phone.
Also it is common for some collections agencies to hire "off the street" individuals to do their telephone work. Do you really want to tell these druggies and ex-cons your SS#?

Also if a Calvary employee reads this i would like to say this is a very cutthroat business. From upper management down to the lower paying positions. Lots of opportunities to do some back stabbing and to also get stabbed.

A lot of people here are ranting on and on about stupid/evil/ignorant debt collectors. But let's be honest with ourselves. We aren't ready to say it's okay to borrow money and, then, never pay it back. Are we? What precedence does that set? And what would that say about us?

Some of us harbor serious delusions. Well, why not? If we owe money, chances are that we have less of it than we'd like to have. It's hard to admit any fault. It's hard to face that we aren't worth enough to anyone to break even. It's easier to believe that we're entitled to money we don't have. And, in fact, it's everyone elses fault that we don't make enough money or that we aren't responsible or intelligent enough to make wise financial decisions. It's serious business. It's our self-esteem on the line.

We lick each other's wounds and feed each other's egos. Misery loves company. To boot, we're used to being treated like gold by people who convince us to spend other people's money. We're customers. And we never get a serious reality check. Not even from the wolves at the door.

We don't have to deal with Rocko or Vinny. We don't lose fingers. We get upset at bill collectors...because they make us face the truth that we're not meeting our responsibilities...because they remind us we own money and insist that we pay them.

Are you kidding me? I don't understand what people here are whining about.

You know what? This serves as a testament to just how delusional a mob of people can become.

The collections industry is often times so forgiving of trespasses that's is easy to lull oneself into a sense that being unscrupulous should go unpunished (e.g. "it's out of statutes and therefore I don't owe it"...as if the collectibility of a debt has any bearing on moral responsibility); or that, perhaps, such dishonesty should be rewarded (e.g. "if it weren't for me, you wouldn't have a job").

Some debtors like to argue that they don't owe a bill anymore because it changed hands. After all, they never owed PIF collections. They owed their original creditor. But, if it weren't for PIF collections stepping-in, their original creditor would not have been compensated in any way at all...and the original creditor would continue to shoulder the entire burden of the unpaid debt. Are they trying to say that the original creditor should not have been not comensated at all? Is it wrong that the original creditor was compensated for their losses? Of course not! In many cases, if it weren't for debt buyers, the original creditors would not be compensated at all. Of course, the original creditor should be repaid.

But it doesn't matter what excuse it is, does it?

As long as anyone has a good excuse not to pay, we might as well add that to our pile of reasons not to pay our bills, right?

Good luck.

To the person who posted right above me.....go get on your soapbox somewhere else. I'm assuming you probably work in the debt collection industry, or, have previously? Maybe you're even an attorney. Either way, if you actually KNEW anything about Cavalry, I doubt your comments would be here. Or maybe you're another one of their "poseur" employees who likes to surf this blog and post. In case you haven't noticed, Cavalry has a long standing history of overly aggressive techniques at debt collection because they're JUNK DEBT COLLECTORS. Go get on your high horse somewhere else.

Wow I didn't expect to find this...I wrote several letters complaining about a specific employee at cavalry and have not heard back "in writing" ofcourse. I noticed that someone has posted the name of Alfred Brothers...I suggest you turn your attention to a man by the name of Andrew Zaro. Sorry, don't have his address with me but will definitely post when I do. Hell, just call Sandra Womack @ the Phoenix office and ask her yourself @ 888-473-3581 x21704. Do me a favor though if she asks how you got her # tell her, "that bitch whose credit reports you've been stealing for patty and your brother gave it to me".

cavalry often will call you BEFORE they send you a first notice letter....
They must send you a letter that gives you 30 days to dispute the debt before they can start collecting on it. If you have not got a letter from them they should not DEMAND that you pay them. If they do then they are breaking the law. There is proof this happens often at Cavalry.....

Cavalry, this is from one on the inside. This is BS and you know it is. We understand the importance of giving back to the community.....
I can not understand where this sentence came from ??? Name something that you done ?? Come on one of you goof balls inside just tell me ????
Was it the new Lexus you gave Mr. Steve Andersen ?
It is a nice one but I do not think he counts as charity...
For those not inside the Cavalry Cult Mr. Andersen it the left hand to Mr. Zaro the owner.
Cavalry Cares
At Cavalry, people are the most important asset. We understand the importance of giving back to the community, which is why we created our "Cavalry Cares" program. "Cavalry Cares" is a company-wide program committed to working with local and national charitable organizations.

Locally
We work with organizations within the respective communities of our sites. Being a part of a company willing to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate has made Cavalry Portfolio Services, LLC a preferred employer in these cities.
Our employees want to make a difference in their community; we are working with local Chambers, schools and other charitable organizations. A recent food drive generated over 20,000 items and 5,000 pounds of canned goods to be donated to a local food bank. This is just one of many local charitable organizations that Cavalry supports.

Nationally
The United Way, Red Cross, and Habitat for Humanity Organizations are just a few of the national charities our employees have supported. Through fundraisers, volunteer work, and donations our employees take great pride in helping others.

During the recent disasters in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi, caring employees in our St. Paul Office donated hundreds of man-hours loading supplies to send to the areas impacted by the hurricanes. Our other sites made baked goods and had cook-offs to raise funds. In addition, all offices donated thousands of necessities to send towards the relief effort.
These are just a few of the ways our employees and our company prove "Cavalry Cares" about people.

Those GOODS were donated by the employees and NOT CAVALRY...

Man hours,,,, these people were not paid.. they were there working loading trucks AFTER A COMPLETE day at Cavalry.

Al Brothers has no idea what goes on in Tulsa only what he is told. And is being told by the people that promote this kind of action they are not doing it.
If they want to know what is going on then get down there talk to the people..
Do not call them in a meeting to talk to them and invite the people they report to. Who will tell you the truth when they have to look at the person the report to when telling you ?
People are worried about getting in trouble. And you know things said around there are held against you..

Here I am and I say CAVALRY made me proud. I ran off alot of good people in the office. We did not need them they would not jum as high as I asked. They would not do the things to make me more money. Once a person even parked in the space for Steve.. I about fell over.
I have to get lift done on my second face. Micky told me about the guy who done his. Yes on his second face.
Then I came back to the office with 2 new faces. Not the old me, and that was my last day there.
Others will follow my path out the door. Others will follow the road I laid. Make all you can because one day you will be gone as well.
Cavalry wsa good to my bank account and that is all that can be said. I have stopped sucking blood and have moved on.
The General public should beware 20% of the calls made there is a violation. Cavaly is aware and has these calls recorded. Dont worry they make the dissapear fast. They have saved some for training and everyone has heard them. But you will never hear them. If you want to catch them then you must record your own call.

Cavalry Portfolio had a judgement put against our Bank Acoount for $17,995, they took every last penny out of my account and left us broke with a negetive $510, we tried to work with them but they wanted one lump sum which I could not afford. This is the second time they have done it for the same debt. They are ruthless and don't care if they ruin someones life, they should be shut down.

WOW!!! well that blew my mind! I was simply looking for cavalry's phone# because I had paid off a sprint bill through them and sprint is still calling me saying they have no record of any payments. If this company is so bad and has ripped off so many people then why can't they be shut down? isn't there some kind of petition that all the people who have commented about them these past few years sign to get them shut down? because I know that there's thousands that would sign it!

What do you think goes on in a office like Cavalry ?
I heard that there are som many people messing around with each other in Tulsa that it is crazy.
I hear the cheating on spouses is out of control. I heard that there are several that have become married to each other while working there, I heard this is from uppermanagement down.
And the moving in with each other. I hear there are several couple there. What a great place to be. Break the law all day get rewarded and paid well for doing it. And then get a little on the side before you go home. If it is good the leave the spouse and move in with that person ?
Sounds like a family valued company.

I think Cavalry is actually a mail fraud scheme myself. Twice in 6 months I have received from them their"attempt to collect a debt" letters saying that I owe $125.83 to Sprint. The catch is....I have NEVER had SPRINT service!! Yet, its my name and my address on the bill. when the next one comes I plan to just sent it in to the state attorney general so he can proceed with mail fraud charges. I plan to sign whatever it takes. Perhaps some of you folks do not actually owe anyone anything either.

Im experiencing a lot of trouble with Calvary attempting to collect a non-existing bill. I had previous services contracted with a company and discontinued it with my bill paid in full. I have been contacted by Calvary demanding that i pay a non-existing bill. I checked every money order receipt and thouroughly reviewed the dates of my contract with the previous company. Calvary does not care to listen to what i have to say and insist i pay them for the non-existing bill.
They call every day of the week and often several times a day. My wife is self employed and works thirds. She is sometimes called during the day in order to respond to certain problems. She has to sleep during the day and is required to wake up and answer the phone when it rings. Half the time it is a recorded message from Calvary and many times its a number that when returned the source is blocked. This is a living hell for my wife whos sleep is interupted everyday for months on end. She has repeatedly begged and pleaded with them to stop calling but they still insist.
One particular day Calvary called numerous times and made her angry and upset to the point she couldnt go back to sleep. When driving to work that night she got sleepy and ran off the road. She could have been killed if not caused someone else to be killed. Because of post traumatic stress resulting from the accident she has hired someone to drive her during her work duties and business trips. Right now we are gathering info and phone records for the lawyers.

One thing i am curious about is a company named EXPERION. Who are they and what do they do? Does Calvary use them for collection attempts?

Cavalry Portfolio Services is clearing up my credit report, due to an obvious error from Sprint. The New York representatives were very friendly, and went out of their way to help me out.

I am an active duty military member who used Sprint. Military members are given a special agreement: If the military member will be stationed to location where Spring cannot provide services, no termination fee can be given.

Sprint then sent me to collections for... yes you guessed it: a termination fee.

Cavalry Portfolio services had me write a letter to dispute the issue, along with any paperwork that can be provided. A week later, I was informed that it will be removed from my credit report. A letter was also sent to me and and the credit bureaus, to get my credit report fixed.

Sprint's finance department is full of rude incompetent workers. The representative wouldn't give me her name, her supervisor's name, or even let me speak to her supervisor! Thank you Cavalry, for all your help!!!

*Not everyone has problems with this company. But I'm sure no one else dealt with the excellent customer service I had the oppurtunity to work with.

Wow... there's alot of people here that are just so bitter about this company, that they think all of Cavalry's employees are incompetent and are employed just to ruin people's lives. Look, the fact of the matter is, there are probably 100+ people working in New York. Isn't it possible that maybe 1, 2, or 3 out of that 100+ actually... I don't know, this may sound a little odd... want to do their job? All I'm saying is that people have better things to do than wake up and think... "Hmm... how will I ruin, irritate, verbally abuse, or threaten someone today?" I may be taking a long shot here... but I think they may have better things to do. But hey, maybe you think it's okay to waste your life like that.

No, I do not work for Cavalry. I don't know anyone in Cavalry. I am an active duty service member, who had a SERIOUS problem with Sprint and was sent to collections. Yes, I believe Sprint customer service is terrible, but I'm sure there are 2 or so that actually help people.

All I'm saying is that I was just lucky enough to recieve that type of customer service and that NOT ALL of Cavalry employees are the offsprings of Satan.

By the way, I recieved the letter which stated that my credit report has been cleared. Unless Experian is lying, they have also cleared the account that was sent to collections.

Lets be adults here. There's no reason someone should be insulted or accused of anything, just because they were 1/527 that recieved great service. I just felt that they deserved to be thanked for once.

I read the 02-01-07 posting from the person who stated their spouse was in a accident.

Quote...
"One particular day Calvary called numerous times and made her angry and upset to the point she couldnt go back to sleep. When driving to work that night she got sleepy and ran off the road. She could have been killed if not caused someone else to be killed. Because of post traumatic stress resulting from the accident she has hired someone to drive her during her work duties and business trips. Right now we are gathering info and phone records for the lawyers."

I contacted a friend who is a lawyer and had him to read it. He said it is possible Calvary could be sued as a corporate entity. Also any employee contacting the accident victim prior to and on the date of the accident could also be subject to an aditional seperate lawsuit.
I am curious as to whether or not Calvary has provided some kind of law suit protection for employees. And if so can employees be fired and the protection voided leaving them stuck in a big law suit mess.
From day one of working for Calvary i have been forced to do a lot of things i dont agree with. But one thing i dont like is the possibility of causing people to be injured or killed in car wrecks.

why do you ask the question I wonder if Cavalry provides protection for the employess in case of a suit ?
And then you say from day one working at Cavalry you have been forced to do things you did not agree with ?
Do you work for them or not ? I would say not since if you did you would recall signing the form that said you was on your own if something happpens ?? The one that said Cavalry would not help you with any of your legal fees ? The one that said the would cover the cost of representing the company but not you personaly ?
Funny what time that comment was put in as well.

To anyone with some useful advice-

I really could care less about Calvary. I just want to take care of this so I could be done with it. I had a Sprint phone when I was 18 amd like every teen went over my minutes and never paid my bill. That was six years ago. Well recently my bank account was frozen and what was in my checking account was taken. Not a big deal because I just finished spending all my money so there wasn;t much in there. Well, if things have gone this far would I still have a chance to settle for less? I owe 1500.00 i guess. All from a $400 bill that I never paid back in 2001. Im going to call Calvary on Monday but any advice before? I just want to be done with this.

Hey buddy... you got some real issues. Look at the time and see how convenient it is for people stationed in Japan. If you were somewhat intelligent, you would realize that people have internet capabilities in their own homes. From what it sounds like with the rest of you, I wouldn't have time to do such things in the office anyways. But I guess you're just not so intelligent, are you?

I'm not trying to fool anyone. If anything, you are fooling yourself... hoping to believe that anyone on here is an employee so you could harass them. It's so sad that people like you don't have better things to do in life.

You can say whatever you want. Bottom line is that I am stationed overseas (in Japan, if you're not smart enough to understand what that big word is), as an active duty military member, away from her family and anything she loves, to fight for sorry people like you. It's alright though. I do it everyday with a smile on my face.

See, unlike you, I have class. I said what I needed to say, so there is no reason TO EVER COME BACK to this site anymore. But you can come back here, day after day after day, hoping that I will reply to your pitiful accusations, because it is apparant that life has nothing left to offer people like you. I see that I keep adding fuel to the fire, and you seem to get off on things like these.

I will end it on this note. Cavalry has done me right. I am not an employee, nor will I ever work for them unless they need a hardware/software technician or a UNIX system administrator. They cleared my credit report. Now they may not be able to do it for most of you, but they did it for me.

Good luck to all. I hope everything works out for you.

Do i or do i not work for Calvary? That is a very good question and the answer to that is probably none of your business. I will say i am very familiar with the aspects of how Calvary operates and you fell right into that one sucker.
We now have someone who works for Calvary making a public statement concerning their negligence to provide proper legal coverage for their employees. Yep smile in their face and pat them on the back for convenience sake and then shove the knife deep when the legal poop hits the fan. I sincerely hope all Calvary employees read this and take note.

Cavalry sucks, listen to what they say to you when on the phone with them. I am sure at some point they will cross the line. When they do that is when you nail them.
Start talking crazy to them and you will get them mad and they will most often react. Then you are in the drivers seat once they cross the line.

Anonymous said...

Why would you call or email them just to get them upset? I don't see how that's going to take them off my credit report.

Anonymous said...

you would email them for the following reasons. 1 to dispute the debt and know the dispute got to a person in upper management. You could send read reciept and then you wouls know it was read.
2 you would email them to let them know how the person on the phone handled your account. Either bad, was rude, is calling you 20 times a week or maybe even good.
3 emailing them keeps them from having your number to contact or bother you. They are not allowed to respond to your email unless you give them permission to do so.
If there is a response then you have a case for legal action... Yes legal action that would result in the item being removed from you CBR.
It is company policy not to respond because of the laws aound it and there is a BIG chance they law will be broken. If the law was to be broken you would have very good proof. It would be in writting from them. So you do not have to worry about them calling you back unless you want. Also you have a exit plan (maybe) if they respond to the email.

We are continually contacted by Cavalry and another similar company for debts owed by another person, in another name. The alleged debtor has the same first and last name as my husband, but a different middle initial. It is a fairly uncommon name in most areas, so they have just decided to find the easiest to locate person, regardless of the middle initial. The other company's agent reached me on the phone (take a chill pill debt collectors, most of us are at work during the day and not in the habit of returning calls from people who do not identify themselves, speat English clearly, or identify who they are trying to reach). I explained to her that the middle initial was different, that the alleged debt, which we did not owe as we had never done business with the company mentioned, and that the supposed debt was beyond the statute of limitations. She implied that I did not know what my husband was doing and that she wouldn't be able to contact us if it wasn't the real debt. She rattled off a social security number, but, gee... I don't have my husband's number memorized. She knew our address, my name as well as his - had added my husband's middle initial after finding us and ASSuming we must be the same people. I told her that we had been married for 25 years, and that yes, I knew all of my husband's business. She was very rude. Several days later we got a letter from Cavalry, for this same person with different middle initial, claiming to be following up on his agreement to an automated payment! That has certainly not been approved by us, as neither he nor I have never dealt with the alleged creditor. I have checked our credit reports with all three agencies and there is no outstanding debt listed other than mortgage and a car payment and credit cards we use for convenience and pay in full every month. I'm not too worried, since I dont' think they have the correct social security number, but it is a pain. Fortunately my husband is an accountant and scrupulous with verifying every penny out of our bank account.

If the debt is not yours - check you credit records. If it is yours, the moral thing to do is to pay the debt you owe, although legally there is a statute of limitations in each state and you are not legally required to pay the debt after that time.
I know these folks are difficult to tolerate, try to be polite when they get you on the phone. If a fraudulent debt shows up on your credit report - immediately start an investigation - it will only get worse if you do not. If it doesn't show up, then don't worry and they are just harrassing the easiest person with a similar name. Your name, address, phone number and spouses name are all easily available on the internet - don't fall for their claims - unless they have your correct social security number, they have not power over you.

Anonymous said...

It is easy to find out a spouses name or even a social for either. The collections company pays big money for the use of databases that contain a lot of information. They can tell everything about you. So it is easy for them to trick the wrong person in paying a debt. It may be a valid debt but the wrong person on the other end of the phone. They will tell you so much about you that you may even start to believe that it is yours.
Cavalry has request every month from people who paid off account and then done a little research to find out it was not their debt. And you talk about hard it is very hard to get your money back.
If you do have an account with them DO NOT use the check by phone or the ACH payments. They have way to many problems with this. They often take to many payments out or to much money. Again very hard to get your money back and it will take a long time to get it to you.
If they take to much money to get a refund has to be approved first by the manager, then the director. This will take a couple fo days. THEN it has to be reviewed and approved by the site director again a couple of days. Once approved at that level ig goes to the Phx office for approval. Again another couple of days. Once approved there it goes to the NY office and approved. They cut the check there and send the check to the Phx office. Again another couple of days. The check will sit there util someone is i the office to sign it. Maybe a couple of days to a week. Once signed it will go out in the mail to you. THIS IS ALL AFTER WAITING 21 days for your payment to clear the bank.
So just send them a check in the mail and you will not have to worry about any of this.

Oh, so in other words its perfectly fine and dandy for these guys to harass someone with phone calls five and six times a day for days on end. But when people start filling their in-boxes with emails they start whining about it.
Ive got an idea...why not open up ten different email accounts. This way you can email them every hour on the hour ten to twelve hours a day seven days a week. The main thing is to not continuously use the same heading and wording in the emails.
Ten email accounts with an email sent once an hour for ten hours straight seven days a week adds up to 700 emails. If ten people do this it equals out to 7000 emails in one weeks time. With the six calvary email addresses provided this would be 42000 emails per week.
How much time and money will it cost to have all those emails read???

I was a deadbeat for years till I decided to finally get responsible and "pay what I owe". The first bill I paid off, you guessed it, my Sprint PCS phone bill. That was in Dec 2005. So about six months ago two new derogatory accounts appeared on my credit. The first collection agency I called turned out to be a legit debt that I owed so I paid it off. Turns out I had paid this particular collection agency for another debt I had owed but didnt remember. It was a few years ago and they still had my record saved. They were freindly, helpful and understanding. Who was this agency? It definately wasnt Cavalry Portfolio Services. When I called them I kept getting the run around cause they didnt want to accept responsability for screwing up my credit score. I had communicated with Sprint and they provided me with the payment confirmation number. Finally they told me they needed me to provide proof of payment. I guess Sprints own confirmation number wasnt good enough. So I called Sprint back and asked them to send them proof of payment and thought it all resolved.

So its six months later and Im trying to buy a house I get a call from my mortgage broker saying theres a problem with my credit. Can you believe it was still on there and being reported as delinquent each moth like clockwork? I called Cavalry up and the excuse I got was "we never recieved a fax or letter from Sprint". Sounds alot to me like the I never recieved notice excuse Cavalry insist everyone they screw over is using.

I wonder what would happen if every victim on here wouldd get together and start a class action lawsuit. Cavalry, why dont you follow the example of other companies in your field and treat your customers with respect? Why cant you call the origional lender and verify that the account still is delinquent before you destroy someones credit? Why cant you be as expedient to remove bogus entries as you are at putting them on in the first place?

Anonymous said...

I suggest writing to the BBB for both Cavalry and Sprint. It took some work, but doing this (and providing proof that the debt was an error) resulted in a compromise of both removing the derogatory comment on my credit report. It hasn't been done yet (since it took practically 2 months to accomplish), but I now have proof that can be sent to the three credit bureaus in case they "forget" to remove it.

You guys are funny. Let me run through the ways to get debt collectors off your back.

Before I start, keep in mind that getting CAs(collection agencies) off your back and improving your scores are NOT the same thing. Owing money to them is actually a form of leverage to be used in negotiations, and a suave debtor, after LOTS of research and understanding, can use it. The sad part is, too many people just want to give excuses and stick their heads in the sand. Which, unfortunately, is exactly what NOT to do. Keep in mind, in the end, you will end up paying for what you owe. This is not a 'How to avoid paying what you legitimately incurred' guide.

Let me start by addressing the excuses...

"ITS NOT MINE!" - If its not, fair enough, but debt collectors hear this excuse millions of times a year, literally. Its obvious you cant send in documentation on proving something isnt yours. Not too many Certificates of Non-ownership out there. So what to do? Help the CA (collection agency) out and do some digging to find out where it came from. Dig and find out anything you can and send it in to help them figure out its not yours. Its your credit report/score after all, protect it!

"BUT MY WIFE PAYS THE BILLS, ITS HER FAULT" - Sorry Charlie, if its your name on it, its yours. Set up arrangements to pay it off.

"IM ONLY AN AUTHORIZED USER!" - Sorry, as an AU you get the bad with the good. Contact the original owner and get them to pay it off. Heck, even help them pay it off. Its only money, right? In the end, you may have to pay it. Chalk it up to not do business with that person again.

"IM ONLY THE COSIGNOR!" - See above.

"ITS OUT OF STATUE! STUFF IT" - Ahh, my favorite. Its the time set aside when debtors have a legal defense against responsibility. True, when a debt goes out of statue (OOS) then CAs no longer have any legal recourse. Or do they? They do. They can still sue you for the debt. You still owe the debt, morally and legally. The only thing the SOL gives you is a defense IF you show up and use it. CAs are great at knowing that most debtors will simply throw all communications away or ignore phone calls thinking, 'Im out of statute.' Heck, some even ignore the summons. Go ahead. When you dont show up, they get awarded judgements by default. Even if you do show, SOL isnt a guaranteed, ironclad defense. Court is a game, and even the best laid strategies experience upsets and lose. Ask any losing Super Bowl team. Then theres the 'sewer service' tactic in which you get your summons AFTER they already went to court. Dont ask how thats legal, because I dont know if it even is. So what does an SOL do for you other than give you a higher chance of avoiding lawsuits? Negotiating power, which is the next thing...

"NEGOTIATE" - Given an OOS debt, you have more negotiating power to get this thing paid and gone. Start negotiating at 10% of the debt and work from there. If you have a lot of time left on your credit report statute, negotiate a deletion in the process. The law states that bad credit marks can stay on your credit report 'UP TO' 7 years, not that it has to, so use that. Remember, you have to give a little in order to get something. Which is more important to you? money now? or credit scores later when you need something really big?

"IF ITS LEGIT, THEY WONT QUIT" -
Bottom line is this, if you EVER charged it or got a loan for it, you owe it until its paid. Statute or not, shrewd collectors will get their money. If they are blocked, they sell it to someone else and the process starts over again.

"ITS JUST BUSINESS" - ALWAYS remember this one. Its only business. Client A charged $XXX on account Z. Client defaulted and owes $YYY on account Z. Thats all they care about, and its all they should care about. Personal reasons, wife cheated, dog ate the check, who cares? Bottom line is, its all buisness to them, as it should be to you. DONT GET PERSONAL!!! Thats where the hatred, the insults, the namecalling and the 'Ill be damned if they ever see a dime.' comes in. In the end you pay the price, either with money, stress, lawsuits, reposessions, etc...

"IN SUMMARY" - It all boils down to one thing, personal responsibility. If you screwed up, admit it to yourself, and work to change it. If they screwed up and you have illegit debt on your reports and they are hounding you? Be responsible and help them get it off.

"IS PAYING A DEBT WORTH IT?" -
Me? I'll pay a few hundred to ease 7 years of a lower credit score and stress any day... provided its legit, proven, debt.

Yes, looks like Calvary is a bunch of fuck sticks. Funny how they can think their job is so righteous and they are making a good living, but truth of the matter is, they are the lowest form of scum sucker on the face of the earth just below telemarketers. Good news is their time is coming. They will be dealt with through new legislation and when they are out of a job, they'll be standing in the soup line trying to figure out where they went wrong. Bottom line is they are violating laws when they contiually call and you are not the person they want. Good thing for caller ID because each time they call, it's logged. A civil suit means that people like me and you who write on this site might be sitting on the jury for the suit and soon as I hear either the company's name or what they did, my mind is made up. Bottom line, file a civil suit and pretty soon they won't have any capital to pay the blood suckers. Or, find the company and pay them a little visit.

I recently sent a letter to Cavalry about settling an account that needed to be resolved. Cavalry sent back a letter agreeing to all the terms that I had listed. I was very happy about it because I was able to eliminate over 75% of the debt. But I decided to call to double check. To my suprise, when I talked to a rep on the phone, he notified me that I was already past due. I had only received the letter THE PREVIOUS DAY! I then looked at the settlement letter again, and noticed that the date the letter was written was the EXACT same date that was under "payment due date"!!! I called Cavalry and they said it was an "error". Yeah, right. They then told me that they would retype a new settlement letter and send it out to me. I'll believe it when I see it. I put in an official complaint to the FTC.

My advice when dealing with Cavalry is NEVER give them the benefit of the doubt. They are wolves in sheep's clothing. Know your rights under the FTC and use your rights as much as you can. I taped all the conversations, which made them be on better behaviour, but still got the "attitude" once in a while. You must be in control of the situation, because you are. Talk to multiple reps there, because I found that there was a different story with each. Good luck!

I wasn't going to post my story until I saw the letter from the woman who said her husband works for these bums, and what a good company it was. Sit back, enjoy and learn - this is the kind of organization you are dealing with:

I was laid off from my job about five years ago. I was about $2000 away from paying off a $17,000 car note. The car was reposessed, sold for $400, and the balance was turned over to Cavalry for collection.

Once I was employed again in my field (took nearly three years) the first thing I did was contact them to settle the debt, which had now grown to over $3000 with interest charged.

The week that we negotiated payment, and a day before I was cutting them a check, they had my bank account garnished, taking $145.33. I called them and complained, telling them that since they clearly never believed I was sending them a settlement fee, that I would be deducting the $145.33 that they had taken from my bank account from our agreed settlement and sending them the balance. I did what I promised, sending them a check for over $3100.00 to clear the matter up.

Now - fast forward two years to January 2007. I pulled a copy of my credit report as a matter of diligence, and lo and behold - there at the very top, were two listings. One, a garnishment order from a court in a county where I have never lived for $145.33, and second a debt to Cavalry Portfolio for 196.55 (my original $145.33 plus interest).

After calling them numerous times, I was told that the court never processed the paper work, so it was their fault. I told them since they filed the garnishment, it was up to them to resolve since the court wasn't going to do anything at my request. Finally, after several weeks of fighting with Cavalry, they called to tell me they had contacted the courts and the money was being returned to me.

Three weeks later, my bank has still not received a release. This has now gone on for TWO YEARS - and cavalry continues to charge interest, and report the debt as unpaid, even though they received a settlement payment equal to what they were owed less what they had garnished, a day after they had agreed to a settlement.

Most caring, good companies would say this guy made every effort to settle this, he didn't dodge it, he paid over three grand, and the screw up is not on his end, so let's clear this up. Not these bums. I am still unable to remove this from my credit report, I have never been given back the garnished funds, and my record still indicates an open judgment against me. I have been trying to resolve this matter since January of 2007, and as of this morning, it's still on my credit report, and it's still got me angry as hell.

I came across this site trying to find out what Cavalry Services is; their name showed up on a list of payees for my touch-tone bill paying service. Turns out they receive payments for Conoco. They aren’t dunning me; I just was curious about the name. I read many of the posts here, and, as one who has “been there” with respect to having bill collectors after you, I would like to offer a viewpoint. In 1992 I had about 12 grand of unsecured debt, and I was looking for work. Collection agencies were calling me, and they were not nice. A couple of accounts had been charged off. My credit record was toast, and I knew it was going to be toast for at least another five years. Having worked in retail for a while, I knew that once a debt is charged off, it avails you nothing to go ahead and pay it, unless you simply want to pay your debt. The charge-off remains on the credit record for seven years.

The people who work for collection companies are no more or less blessed by God than you or me. The job might attract more people who behave like jerks than other jobs, but what their individual personalities are don’t matter. They are paid to be firm and act tough, simply because that posture is what works for most delinquent debtors. The law provides you the means to report illegal collection activities and to make them stop contacting you.

I found that what works best with these people is to remain calm and matter-of-fact and not to let them goad you into becoming hostile. It shouldn’t surprise you that, if you cuss out a bill collector, the process doesn’t go too well for you downstream. They are human (yes they are), and if you go off on them, why should they bother to try to help you set things right?

You might be a victim of a mistake or identity theft, but abusing people on the phone won’t help you get it fixed. It happened to me recently, and I was pretty hot about it. It took a lot of effort to keep from yelling at those who made the mistake, but they fixed it. Worst of all is when they talk to you like you’re a deadbeat, and you know you’re not.

If you are an innocent victim, the best way to get it resolved is to stay in control and to do whatever it takes to fix it, however long it takes, no matter the obstacles. There are resources available; use them. Cover yourself; if you mail anyone anything, make it certified mail with return receipt.

But let’s face it: the vast majority of people collection companies contact really do owe the money and really are delinquent. If you and your “ex” incurred a debt together years ago, and your ex fails to keep an agreement to pay it, you are on the hook for it just as much as your ex is. That’s the law, and that’s what is in the agreement you signed in return for credit. They have the right to come after you. If you had to make a choice between “eating” and paying a bill, just remember that you have already given them permission to add penalties and higher interest to your debt, so try not to be outraged when they do it.

So, if you are not an innocent victim, and you hate dealing with debt-related issues, including companies like this one, there are two essential elements to getting out: (1) a steady income and (2) a fierce determination to get out.

At this point, someone will be tempted to come back at me for being a pompous preacher. That’s OK. This is from the heart, and, remember, I really have been there.

Cavalry Portfolio Services is a RACIST & SEXIST COMPANY and I know this for a fact because I used to work for them.

Cavalry is attempting to Merge with GMAC for $379 MILLION DOLLARS.
Help end this possibility of their merger by contacting GMAC and expressing your personal thoughts about how it makes you feel that GMAC wants to Merge with such a Discriminatory Company like Cavalry.

Will GMAC Tolerate Cavalry’s Racial & Sexist Attitude and Continue with the Merger
It was recently announced that GMAC and Cavalry Portfolio Services are currently in the final stages of a merger together although Hanlin, Robinson, and Tucker are currently suing for Race and Sex Discrimination Lawsuits against Cavalry. Does GMAC agree with Cavalry’s Attitude and Acts towards African Americans, Interracial Marriages, and Woman? Is GMAC aware that there are other employee’s who will shortly be following Hanlin, Robinson, and Tucker’s lawsuits against Cavalry for continued Race and Sex Discrimination?

Whoever flooded this site with about 50 copies of their rant about CS...
All I can say is you are a flipping idiot and probably deserve everything CS dished out to you.
Webmaster, you should not allow flooding like this. It does not contribute to the discussion.

Problem: received collection bill and phone calls - name is wrong and haven't done business with Cingular.
Won't give them SS# so they put the screws to my credit rating
Has anyone in CA had problems with Cavalry? List of email contacts in company branch that handles this state?

These bozos called me about a debt that I wasn't even mine. They told me that if I didn't give them the last four of my social they would call me each day. I called the NC Attorney Generals office and filed a complaint. More information to come.

Get this, i was just checking my credit report out and came across cavalry. There was a balance of 63 dollars owed. I don't even know anything about cavalry or why i owe them. So i went to their site and went to register to find out why i owe $63. when i entered my information it came back that there was no account open with my social. Why the hell then are they on my credit report? sounds kinda fishy huh.

This company calls me day and night I never answer the phone they never leave a message.

Whoever had this numebr before me owed out money so I get these crazy calls all the time.

I used to try to explain that the person doesnt live here and I got their old number but do they listen?

No matter what I told them they called back anyhow so now I just ignore them.

Collection Parasites all them should die of cancer of the mouth.

i had a legitimate debt to sprint that appeared on my credit report recently from these people. I called them. They didn't have a phone number or address. I talk to some guy who first of all tries to mine my information. We negotiate a 60% settlement for which a letter gets mailed same day.

2 weeks later, it arrives. It looks Like this:

Original Amount Due: 400.00
Percent Settlement Discount:
Net settlement amount:

Please contact us at:

So i rattled some poor ladies cage up there and they turned the real deal over in 24hrs by fax. Slimy bastards still backdated two weeks to the original phone call. I certified mailed a cashier's check and the same day and we'll see what happens.

YEAH!!!!

Thank You for the responses to the GMAC and Cavalry merger - I am pleased to announce the merger has fallen through due to all of your support!!!!

I am honored to help end Cavalry's 379 million dollar merger!!!!

CAVALRY SUCKS!!!!

update- agentsmith's personal battle with calvary

apparently the address on the statement of intent IS NOT where you are supposed to mail the payment. That is a secret undisclosed address.

So according to USPS, my cashier's check for the settlement arrived and was signed for on 4/20. Yet there was no record of it ever being received as of today.

The only thing that comforts me is that my bank reports that the check has not yet been cashed. However there is little more than a week before my settlement deal has expired.

I would have paid over the phone but I value the rest of my money. God these people are incompetent.

What exactly happened with the proposed Cavalry and GMAC merger? Did it actually fall through? How many individuals here personally called GMAC and talk to them?
Is anyone keeping an eye and ear out for any possible future mergers involving cavalry?

ATTN. CALVARY WORKER/THIS IS A LONG POST

Every once in a while I used to get a call from 888-845-0146, assuming it was a telemarketer I would let it go to my answering machine.

After a few weeks I would come home from work and see that the same number has called my house 2-3 times a day.

Then the calls would come Mon-Frit from 8:30 in the am to as late as 10:00 at night. Now I get them on the weekends too. Mind you I work a job where I travel a lot and am not home too often.

I finally get a call, pick it up and its a recording giving me no info other than a phone number where to call back so I ignore it and hang up, I'm afraid of these phishing scams I keep hearing about.

Now whenever I get home my caller ID is blinking with at least 5 calls a day, I look up the number online, see it's a this Calvary Co. and give the place a call to see what they want.

They are looking for some woman with a name I don't know who never lived at this address but gave this phone number as a contact number.

I told the guy he had the wrong party, he basically accuses me of lying to him and that I am the woman he's looking for, gets sarcastic and keeps "accidentally" calling me the others woman name. I told him, "You have the wrong number and the wrong party and I don't want you to call his number again"

He told me I would have to PROVE to them that I am not this woman or they will continue to call me.

I asked what kind of info he wanted and he tells me I have to give him my full name, address, SS # and proof of where I am living.

I told him "Sorry guy I have no clue who you really are and I'm not giving you that info, he said" Well expect us to call you all day till the bill is paid"

I laughed and said don't hold your breath!

So what do I do know? My business/Home uses this number and I cant just up and change it but I'm not the girl their looking for.

Any suggestions?

Not that anybody cares, and I'm really just blowing off steam and trying to join the choir of voices shouting how bad Cavary blows;

Update in my lost payment battle;

Finally I get a call back about my lost payment. Nothing still. Same day get a letter very condescending and outright disrespectful. "You have claimed to have paid in full, F$^% you, prove it."

I SETTLED, NOT PAID IN FULL. But thats beside the point. Today I faxed in : Copy of my letter of intent, letter I received requesting proof, deposit slip for cashier's check, carbon receipt for said check, proof of mailing and signed receipt of delivery for the check.

Every time I call those assholes want my acct number, current phone number, current address, social etc. EVEN when I'm just calling for a fax number. And then they read the notes on the file and basically call me a liar.

This better get fixed. I'm not some random deadbeat they can just jerk around. I know how this game is played.

I find it amusing that everytime someone writing in claims to work for the company in question they accuse those of us who do not return their calls as not being an adult. I am on my second round of dealing with them this year. The funny thing is.... they always ask for someone who does not live here. We have had the phone number for the last three years. I would think there would be a way to enter our phone number in as a do not contact, as they have been told the people don't live here, but instead I have to be "adult" and call them back every time to have the number removed....again. Best of all is the fact that if I don't they call 3 times per hour and if I do it takes 24 hours to pull the number from the system, so it keeps calling me anyhow. Since I have to keep telling you to stop it and even when I do you still call and call and call, much like a small child who repeats the same thing over and over again no matter how many times you tell them to stop, I ask you.... which one of us needs to grow up and be a responsable adult?

WOW.... I finally had enough of the phones, put the number from my caller id in a google search & guess what i found!! I can't beleive i am getting calls from these people. i had a $200 mobil bill when i got laided off (in 1992). in 1996 (i know it's four years later) i paid the bill in full. now in 2007, they want me to pay the damm thing!!

Agent Smith is retiring.
After an ungodly amount of time and frustration, my problem with Cavalry got fixed.

Following the above load of horseshit was several nasty "automated" letters saying that I was lying, and me faxing proof of mailing my check, the receipt, etc. Then a request that I incur a $25 cost to stop payment my cashier's check and issue another (which I refused due to a 90 day funds liability issue with my bank). Weeks of phone tag, and a full 30 days of my payment being lost.

I got faxed my confirmation that it is closed and paid. My one and only collection is toast. Only by working my way up the food chain and harassing some heads paid off in this case.

The entire manner was handled slowly, inefficiently, and with a detached arrogance. (For the most part, though the person who ended up solving the issue was actually very on point.) I guess they simply don't care- even though I settled for 70%, they probably made 1000% profit. See you in hell Cavalry- cuz I hope to never see you again in this life.

So I kept getting this call from a Gary Puff saying I had an account that had been referred to them that was originally from Americredit. This guy called on a daily basis and numerous times he would call and ask for me or a Lisa Smith...don't even know a Lisa Smith. How unprofessional to not even get their shit straight before leaving messages on the machine that clearly states who you are! Then I try to call them back numerous times, only get someones voicemail and not the one that I need. I had to go online and find a phone number and then that is when I seen all of the things that this company has done. Makes me feel stupid, but I am fixing that problem. My initial debt was 5500 and now they tell me I owe 8500-bullshit!!! These guys are so NOT on the up and up; and I would be so embarrassed and ashamed of myself to say that I work for a collection agency, especially this one!

The number of postings have slowed down after May of 2007. Im wondering why this is? Has a federal agency come down on them or are they finally going broke?

One person reported that Calvalry was calling her house and asking for someone who did not live there. She informed them the individual did not live there and still they continue to call her residence. Best bit of advice i have to give is keep records of the dates and time/number of times per day she receives the calls. Then turn these records over to her phone company and file the proper harassment reports.

ADVICE FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY THE SCUM SUCKING SACK OF SHIT BOTTOM FEEDING COLLECTIONS AGENCY KNOWN AS CAVALRY PORTFOLIO SERVICES LLC:

Make sure you NEVER pay any part of the fake bill that they are charging you for. It admits guilt for a bill you DO NOT owe. And it does something else which is horrible. Cavalry is a company that buys debts from a few companies like SPRINT, AT&T, FORD MOTOR etc. at a cheap rate...then attempts to collect a FULL BALANCE! These bills fall out of the Statute of Limitations. They are no longer owed by the debtor, but seedy disgusting companies like Cavalry can still report them on your credit and screw it up. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR TRICKS! NEVER MAKE A PAYMENT TO THEM! If you do this just restarts the Statute of Limitations process for you...for a debt that was no longer owed! Additionally, these people tack on debts that people never owed in the first place. THEY ARE BLOODSUCKERS. THEY ALSO SEND VIRUSES TO PEOPLES PHONES AND CELLPHONES WHEN YOU REFUSE TO RESPOND TO THEIR HARASSING PHONE CALLS. DO NOT EVER PAY THESE PEOPLE FOR A DEBT YOU DO NOT OWE. REPORT THEM TO AS MANY AGENCIES AS POSSIBLE: BBB, FTC, FBI, AND YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL.

IF YOU PAY THESE PEOPLE BY CHECK, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFO,AND ALSO FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST YOU. EXPECTING YOU NOT TO SHOW UP AND WHEN YOU DON'T THEY WILL WIN THE CASE AND YOU WILL HAVE YOUR WAGES GARNISHED! FOR A BILL YOU NEVER OWED! DO NOT FALL FOR ANY SETTLEMENT OFFERS IT'S ALL A SCAM! THEY JUST WANT YOU TO PAY SOMETHING SO THAT THEY CAN PUT YOU BACK WITHIN THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS AND MAKE YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR A DEBT THATS NOT YOURS.

IF YOU DISPUTE THEM THROUGH CONTACTING THEM AND CLAIM IDENTITY THEFT, THEY WANT YOU TO FILL OUT & FAX PAPERWORK TO THEM GIVING YOUR SSN# NAME, PHONE WORK NUMBERS....DON'T DO IT! THEY ARE PHISHING FOR YOUR INFO TO ADD SO THEY CAN FILE FURTHER ACCOUNTS DAMAGING YOUR CREDIT.

ANYONE THAT IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THESE LEECHES...FIRST, OBTAIN YOUR CREDIT REPORTS. WHEREVER CAVALRY HAS FILED A DEROGATORY CLAIM FILE A DISPUTE WITH THE CORRESPONDING CREDIT BUREAUS. THEN SEND CAVALRY A CERTIFIED LETTER WITH A RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTING DEBT VALIDATION; IT IS WITHIN YOUR RIGHTS TO REQUEST HOW CAVALRY OBTAINED YOUR INFO AND THEY MUST PROVIDE PROOF THAT YOU INCURRED THIS DEBT. USUALLY THEY NEVER CAN'T. WHEN YOU DON'T HEAR FROM THEM SEND THEM ANOTHER LETTER SAYING THAT THEY HAD BETTER REMOVE THEIR COLLECTION FROM YOUR CREDIT REPORTS BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL TO CLAIM A FALSE DEBT. THEY WILL USUALLY BACK OFF AND REMOVE THE DEBT. IF THEY DO NOT FILE A LAWSUIT. OH AND ALSO SEND THEM A CERTIFIED LETTER WITH RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTING THAT THEY CEASE COMMUNICATIONS WITH YOU. THIS WILL STOP HARASSING PHONE CALLS. IF THEY STILL CALL AFTER HAVING RECEIVED THE LETTER, RECORD THE PHONE MESSAGE OR KEEP RECORD OF THEM DOING THIS; IT WILL FURTHER HELP YOUR LAWSUIT AND PROOF OF THEIR ILLEGAL ACTIONS.

I WOULD REALLY LIKE ALL OF US CAVALRY VICTIMS TO GET TOGETHER AND FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THIS DISGUSTING COMPANY DESERVES TO BE RUN OUT OF BUSINESS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY ARE ALLOWED TO DO THESE BLATANT CRIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HOPE MY TIPS CAN HELP SOMEONE NOT GO THROUGH WHAT I HAVE BEEN WITH THIS VERMIN CAVALRY FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS!

Cavalry has contacted me for more than a year about an AT&T bill. This bill does not belong to me and I've talked to them several times about it. Most notably, AT&T was not even in Texas when they claim that I neglected to pay this bill. Our telephone choices were only Southwestern Bell and GTE way back in early 1990s. Ironically, Southwestern Bell bought AT&T a few years ago and now goes by AT&T in Texas. My local phone line had always been Southwestern Bell but since the acquisition of AT&T..it is now an AT&T account. I contacted AT&T about this issue of this so called delinquent debt and guess what they have NO record of this debt. Luckily, I went to grad school with a VP at Southwestern Bell and she verified that I do not have this debt in any of their systems. I just received a letter from Calalry with 60% off my outstanding balance from 1993...again I did not incur this debt so why should I pay for something that I don't owe? I'm too busy trying my best to pay what I actually do OWE. I am exhausted trying to explain this to the Cavalry folks both in writing and via phone. NO ONE Listens to the consumer.

We just got a letter in the mail from a law firm that represents Calvary Portfolio...had never heard of this company. Thought I would google them just to see what kind of company they were, actually thought it might be something, or someone we didn't owe!
My husband lost his job several years ago now, unemployment ran out, and we lost everything including our home. I see the commercial on tv that shows the lady standing looking out her window on the verge of tears letting the phone ring. That was a reality for us. Everytime the phone rang, I burst into tears. I never knew there were so many mean people in the world, but believe me, I have talked to a large portion of them. I have been called a dead beat, low class and trash because I couldn't just write a check for $50, $100 or $1000 on command. I hope no one else would ever have to go through this, but I see they are. I will ask God to put peace in their lives, cause I know how devestating these bill collectors can be on the ego, when the ego has already had a swift kick in the butt.
I haven't had any dealings with this company until now, and I guess I'll get my hip-boots on and get prepared to wade up to my butt cheeks in mud.
Thanks for the heads up on this company.
God Bless all in this situation!

after i read the comments on here i was laughing because these are the people that made these bills and run like the moles that are in my lawn! cavalry does do their job and very well. but people hate the fact that they were found. and oh by the way half of the lies they tell you on here are bogus because calls are monitored and recorded and no collector can just say whatever they want like throwing them in jail ect ect.stop making bills you cannot afford. or letting your old grandmother or mother and father co sign and get stuck with the bills because you think they will be dead and gone and i will not owe anything? and you all know who you are. i bet if you pulled your cbr you don't pay anyone else either. it is not the company but the people that cannot manage their money or get greedy and want something they cannot afford. If this company did the things they are saying on here this place would have been closed down years ago. So get a life and stop with all the bull.First admit the fact that you just cannot manage money or credit and for the poor people that are in their 70's and 80's and so on it is not the company that did this it is your daughters sons and grandchildren and you fell for it. and oh by the way the worst ones live in texas, mass, nc, sc, and a few more your just born loosers face it!

A LITTLE BIRDIE INFORMED ME THAT CAVALRY REPS ARE USUALLY EX-CONVICTS AND/OR HIGH SCHOOL DROP-OUTS THAT HAVE A HARD TIME OBTAINING JOBS DUE TO THEIR LACK OF CREDENTIALS. Hello All,

I know alot of these postings are old, but I felt the need to respond.

Debt collection is an ugly game--but unfortunately a necessary one.

It provokes alot of anger on both sides.

I'd like to say that I am a debt collector, this is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be for that purpose.

Best to all my fellow collectors and their families--keep doing what your doing and don't let the stress get to you. This is a great line of work. It is very rewarding to work in field where so many disciplines and bodies of knowledge intersect on a daily basis--finance, sales, technology, communications, law and even human psychology--it has been a truly rewarding experience.

I am very proud of the fact that 3 people at my "job" drive Audis, several Mercedes, and the CFO drives an Aston Martin.

I am graced everyday with the presence of so many classy, beautiful corporate women, and the parties are outrageous.

So to my little friends, the debtors--No hard feelings--it's all business, never personal.
This winter I will be taking my family on a dream tour of the castles of Northern England and Scotland, and I would like to thank you for support--because when you don't pay your bills--you pay my bills--HA HA

With that signing off, and remember: I am a debt collector, this is an attempt to collect a debt, and any information obtained will be used for that purpose.

WOW: thank God for the internet and Google. On 9/27/08,I was in an ATT wireless store in San Antonio looking at the new 3G Iphone as a birthday present for my wifes upcoming birthday. Intrestingly, after running my credit, came back with a $500 DEPOSIT for EACH iPhone ont eh same account.

Then during todays Cowboys game I rec'd a ph call on my company cell from this company, Calvalry, looking for me. Puzzled by the call, which was a computer generated/automated phone call to my company issued cell phone,I decided to Google this company, after attemtping to return the call, which was answered again by computer, I've learned a lot< just based on comments from other people, who have enlightened me about this sham/scam collections company.

In reading/deducing between the lines, I have figured that ATT (who I have never done business with) somehow and underhandedly sold my private, personal and confidential information to these ass wads. I appreciate the internet and other people who have enlightened me to this company.

Isnt their some Federal laws to protect us "little people" from these underhanded and illegal debt collection practices?? Being in the legal field, I look forward to the further bull shit I envison with these Calvary "cracker jacks." As far as I am concerned, if there was an old debt, ATT and Calvary will now be responsible for same as well as civil and criminal penalites for their illegal and underhanded tactics of sellingconfidential and personal information.

This is a perfect example of abuse and total disreagrd for the privacy and protection laws designed with to protect consumer (i.e. you and me...)

Well as for "not a bad company" I would like to differ. perhaps not all of you collectors or managers are the same but I know how it goes, I was a "customer service Rep" and I was yelled at constantly but Cavalry took funds out of my account after I informed them I did not have sufficient funds. Now its my understanding that if the funds are insufficient then it becomes a uncollectible debt. Now I'm $70 in the hole and have a young daughter to take care of. They even had the nerve to ask me to borrow the money which they cannot do. The payment wasn't huge but now I have a huge debt I have to pay the payments were only $10 for two accounts but I told them I have been out of work and recently had surgery. I understand they have a job to do but I had made payments and requested they send me remaining payments owed and they never did. it didn't help matters much that I and my daughter have been homeless for the past 3 years I tried to pay this debt off but if it comes to feeding my daughter or paying this I would chose my daughter. and as for Mr. and Mrs. Debt Collector I pity you. Only a debt collector could be cold as you and wordsnot have an effect on you. how does it feel to work for the devil? Because that is what debt collectors are, they are much like the tax collectors in the time of Jesus or did you forget that much? They don't care you can't feed your children they just want that buck much like the debt collection agencies these days. I have worked my a** off my whole life to have tried to provide a life for my daughter and for a person like you to call us lazy yeah some people may just want not to have to pay but i'm sure most of the people on this site have a reason to not want or need to pay the debt. much like they did to me now they will never get a cent out of me and what they did to the Marine, one of the men that put his life on the line to keep our freedoms safe and yours Mrs. Debt Collector to keep calling people to try and get the money that people most likely don't have. and to call yourself a christian gives a bad name to all christians. I pray God can forgive me for Judging.

Hi,

I work for cavalry..won't say where..I am happy that so many negative comments are from 2005 and here we approach 2009 and that company is still doing well.

I'll let you in on a little secret, over the years countless people have successfully disputed debts with cavalry and the issues were closed and the derogatory credit items removed.

If you successfully dispute an account then it's out of your hair.

You people have to learn the dispute process, and how to successfully challenge these debts, if not then you'll have to pay.

If you really feel you don't owe something and are unable to prove it, then you should probably contact a lawyer.

Also a debt collection company only knows what the original creditor sent them, until you dispute it is considered a valid debt.

Some of these may be the result of Consumer complains about service--Service provider basically says Fuck You--Consumer stops paying bill, ignores fees, penalties etc--months go by account is charged off,--years go by consumer is now a debtor and doesn't like the fact they were sandbagged when they went for that mortgage---

Listen good people, if you have a problem with any service provider who is billing you, you have to keep records of the dispute, and if you withold a balance you subject your self to future collection action.

Once Sprint or ATT or whoever charges this off or sells it they could care less about it and if you call them they'll even claim to have no records of it--that's how they avoid liability--so by the time it is a seriously past due, charged off collection, you dispute for reasons of poor service are too late. You will be forced to provide clear documentary proof negating the vaildity of the debt--and that is difficult to do.

So friends, to avoid these situations in life, you have to take bills seriously and if a problem arises Don't think by saying Fuck you I'm not paying will help you---you'll be one of the people on this blog pissing and moaning about some company harrassing you.

I called Cavalry and ask for a settlement. I received an amount and told them I would send them a Certified Check within two weeks. The woman I spoke with was very kind. All of the sudden, I began to received telephone calls NONSTOP one after another for 20 minutes with messages to urgently return a phone call. I called back today. I was told by the account officer to NOT pay by Certified Check. The only thing acceptable to Cavalry was to pay by credit card or an electronic check. I was asked where I was getting the money and when I made a stupid joke the guy laughed. However, you told me that if I sent a Certified Check it would be returned. I told him I would send it anyway and hung up nicely. Well, then, I received an immediate phone call from a man who left a screaming voice mail that I better never dare talk to his staff like that ever again and I better be forewarned that I better pay the money the way they want it not the way I want it. Is this guy insane???? OK Mr. & Mrs. Debt Collector, what's they psycological game here? Oh and by the way if you really think WE believe you work for Cavalry you are seriously disturbed. You just have less to do with your lives then we do. LOLOLOLOLOL

Just remember that if an account is past the statute of limitations, there is absolutely nothing this collection agency can do to you. Making any kind of a partial payment or sometimes even simply acknowledging that the debt was yours can restart the statute of limitations. In fact, if you are sure it is past the statute of limitations, then just ignore them. If they try to re-age the debt to make it look more recent and post it to your credit report, then they are in violation of the fdcpa and could potentially be sued.

Be careful paying these people. I had a credit card problem due to a mistake. These people got the debt and I tried to work with them several times, they would not get back with me on my offers for payment, they just filed levy after levy, and threatened sheriff sales. I made several offers until we agreed to a 8 thousand payment (for a 2300 dollar credit card debt), I paid the 8 thousand dollars to leave me alone and clear up my credit and then 6 months later I had the sheriff at the door for another sale. They want another 5100 dollars. I called and they wanted to know how much I would offer this time, as if it was a joke to them. Dont make my mistake hire a laywer at the very first time before dealing with these people they are indeed crooks.

I have spoke to at least 4 individuals at Calvary. I have verified that the name is correct but it was not the last 4 of my ssan. I have informed each caller of this. I know for a fact this is not my debt. So, for all you employees of Calvary who are responding as if it the person on the other end of the phone, you are wrong. To all who read this posting, contact your local BBB, the BBB in each state where they do business(google it), get the name of the person calling and the caller ID. Also, record the conversation if this is legal in your state. Inform the person calling that you are recording. This is all evidence. Someone said to call the FCC. I think I will try that also. Lastly, if you actually do owe the debt, just settle with them.

Okay, I have been getting phone calls from Calvary Portfolio for weeks for someone named "Gretchen P.", but the problem is...if I'm not home, their message is so long, that my voicemail doesn't get it all, so I had no way to call them back since it cut off before the phone number was given.

Now, in the last couple of days, I've been working from home and I keep getting more of these automated calls for Gretchen P. Now, my name is NOT Gretchen P., my name is Angela B. and I have no clue who this Gretchen is since I'm not originally from this area. I have spoken with 4 people from Calvary in the past 7 days, 3 of them were today because those idiots apparently don't know how to remove a number from their system.

I have worked in collections before, Rule #1, if you buy out someone's debt, research them through web based white pages, it is amazing what you can find...oh, like a current phone number for the person your are trying to locate! I went online and found Gretchen P's new phone number and address in a matter of minutes...how pathetic is Calvary? I'm wondering how they stay in business. Seeing as I have years of experience in Collections, I can tell you, this company would define the word PATHETIC!!! What a joke they are!

In 1997, I had a sprint cell account for a programming position as I was on call 24/7. When the company closed it's doors after a merger, I closed out the cell as it was no longer needed. I paid the bill and that was that. Now in 2009, I'm seeing a Sprint bill appear that I have nothing to do with.

I would like to understand what the reason for this is however since it would only open up a hornet's nest, I decided to do some searching which is when I found this web site here.

Why is it that collection companies cannot follow the law in states? A collection company works just like any other business, they pay their income taxes. So any monies made are profit, any open credits not spoken for or unpaid transactions become a write off at the end of the month. It's that simple.

For what it's worth, I agree 110% with others as no one is perfect. I ran up a credit card nearly to its maximum during school so I could eat.

I also agree with the statement that was made to contact the BBB on this company as it seems they have a lot of issues with their ethics, policies, and consumer standards of practice. There is a difference between following the law and harassment and it sounds to me like this company is crossing the line. I'm not an attorney so please do not take that as legal advice. If you do feel there is an issue, I would seek counsel with someone. Furthermore, financial information can be located on Google by doing a search using your state then legal limitation rights.

Sorry if I seemed so long winded as this is not an easy situation once you get into it. As I said earlier, it's like opening up a hornet's nest. The best advice I can give regarding legal action is to be sure you have all of your t's crossed and i's dotted before taking that final step.

I know most of the comments concerning Cavalry Portfolio Services are in 2005 but this company still does what it does. I co-signed for an ex-daughter-in-law for a car that she quit paying on for 4 months and was repo. I never got a call from the Credit Company before the car was sold. Now the Credit Company has written off the debt in 2007 which I didn't knew existed till I had to buy a car in 2008. I thought she took care of it. The rest of my credit was in good standing. Now all of a sudden here comes Cavalry. The reason they are talking to me is because I answered my phone - they told me so. I have assets - no I don't. And contacting them? I sent a registered letter, it came back NSN. Faxing them? No...the phone just rings and rings but they are very demanding that I be contacted by fax and phone. They said their accountants will only accept $4000 and then they will go to my ex-daughter-in-law for the rest with added interest. I don't denigh the debt as I did co-signed. What I don't understand is how can this be legal? How can a company BUY a debt of another company and then come after you for the debt? I asked them will this removed the other debt from my credit report. No, it was written off. Then why should I pay this debt company? I didn't ask them to buy that debt for about $900. Right now I don't know from one day to the next if I will have a job when I wake up each morning. They also ran my credit report as they asked about a line of credit of a medical loan company. Is this legal without my permission? I just can't pay $4000.

Cavalry is trying to go after me for an old At&t bill from 2000. They say they have had the account from 2005. I contacted At&t and they said no matter how long ago they can find out if I had a cell phone by my ss#. Guess what.. no record. Cavalry actually out a hold on my checking account that has my sister as primary account holder and me as the secondary. How can they just put a hold on that account with no warnings, no letters, nothing. They sent me a copy of the certified letter. I NEVER LIVED AT THE ADDRESS THEY HAD!! How is that possible? Now If the debt can not be validated from At&t (which by the way Cavalry is saying they purchased it directly from) how is this even a valid debt? Clearly it is not. And if the bill is from 2000 the statue of limitations is up. So I guess they forged documents from 2005 so they are in the 6 year limit, I dont know all I know this is not my debt. Every time I call, I get the rudest person ever. Now they tell me to get a police report cause its fraud. They never contacted me ever if they have my ss# and can put it on my credit report and ALL my current and previous addresses are there why wasnt I contacted in the first place and why do I now have to jump through their hoops? The debt is not mine and from hello 2000!! And I have to prove now I didnt live at the address they sent the certified letters that were never signed for, Gee I wonder why?? Its on my credit report they ruined. LOOK AT THAT LOL This is such BS to go through.

I felt I should leave this information about Cavalry Portfolio Services. They buy old debts and thy to get you to pay them. But you all should know that there is a lay called statue of limitations. In my state, California it is four years. Check you own state laws to see, but in general I think it is the same. They cannot sue you or take you to court or obtain a judgement against you. This law was created so people don't have to worry their entire life about being sued. They will threaten you and send you letters. If you pay them it will reset your statue of limitations so do not do so. Inform them that you are aware of the law, which they are hoping that you are not. They are bottom feeders, don't give them a dime! I found out this information when they contacted me and I then contacted an attorney. So don't let them stress you out they will try and tell you that you still owe the debt, but they have NO recourse against you.

ANONYMOUS, GET A LIFE!!!!! I spent 5 minutes on this site but it seems as if your primary goal is to answer every post on here, defending the criminals/thugs at Cavalry. Don't you have some people to harass? (Maybe this is "Heather Kelly")

apageor2 said...

If you worked there then why are you posting anonymous? Hmm... sounds rather fishy to me. Please don't whine to me okay. I don't have a freaking bill with these bastards and don't wish to be getting a bill from them. Pretty bad if you need to hide yourself from others. That's almost as bad as the POTUS doing back door deals

Learn how to spell or at least use a spell checker, it does wonders! I use it every day but I guess that's one of the many reasons why I am working towards a PhD and you're supposedly working for a collection agency.

As I said before, my attorney already has the paper work from your company as the bill does not belong to me. Here's a thought, perhaps your company needs to check their dialer and their client data? I'm not sure where you're located however in my area, if a company phones the wrong residence or business that means ka-ching as the telemarketing laws have changed for ALL call centers.

NEVER, EVER just roll over and give Cavalry your money. ALWAYS take them to court and fight them. We did and won, because as in almost evey case, they NEVER have a case. They buy old, charged-off debt for pennies on the dollar that is YEARS PAST THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS and then hound you and try to scare you mercilessly with phone calls hoping you'll pay up, because they stand to profit thousands and thousands of dollars. They are criminals, and you should treat them as such.
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT PAY THEM. Say "CEASE CONTACT" when they call, then find yourself an attorney that specializes in bankruptcy, debt collection, or consumer protection, because Cavalry will send you a court summons. DO NOT BE AFRAID, because you will win. Most attorneys will not even charge you, because they will countersue Cavalry and charge THEM for their fees.
This is why you will win: Cavalry never does their homework. They never have all the paperwork. They can't prove you owe them anything. Your biggest ace in the hole is the fact that Cavalry abuses the Consumer Fair Debt Collection Act with abandon, and ignores the Satute of Limitations for collection of a debt (know what it is in your state).
I know it sucks dealing with their harrassment and phone calls (another way they abuse the law). Just tell them to cease contact, block the number, find a lawyer, and dig in. Do not roll over and die. You deserve better than to be teated like garbage. You are trying to get on with your life and recover from financial disasters in the past. Fight these criminals. You don't owe them a damn thing. Fight! You will win!

you know, I DON'T have any accounts in collections with Cavalry Portfolio, BUT... after reading all the hateful comments...LEFT ANONYMOUSLY, of course, by their representatives, I can see why folks are having such great difficulty in dealing with them..... best wishes to ANYONE having to deal with this OBVIOUSLY TERRIBLE company!

I actually work for Cavarly. I can honestly say this is one of the best collection agencies out there. They follow off FDCPA guidlines and treat all of their customers with respect, that is what this company strives for. We work with everyone to settle their debts for a reasonable price. I see that a lot of you are receiving calls from Cavalry about Sprint phone bills and old Mobile bills. First, this company is legit, if you have a real dispute then you can contact them and their compliance department will send you a "fraud" packet that will need to be completed and filled out. In this packet you may have to have a police report and copies of your ss card along with copies of your driver's license. Honestly, everyone single dispute I have dealt with it ended up being either a husband or roomate that used your social security number. (That's not our problem!!) If you receive a call from us again, tell the collector to verify where the account was opened. (On your account it will show the service address) This may remind you of who could of used your ss to open the account. If you still don't believe the debt is yours, tell the collector that and they will mark your account as fraud which will result in further investigation. About the mobile cards being so old.. They use these old accounts for new collectors to learn on. We can legally collect a debt no matter how old it is. Most of these old account you can settle for $20 dollars. You guys don't seem to realize that just because they say you owe a certain balance, you can still negociate on that balance. Most of the time we settle on these balances for 25% of the asking balance! Third and most importantly, you guys sit here and are trashing these collectors who are just doing their jobs. We are collecting from people who don't pay their bills and most of them are receiving unemployment along with other federal benefits because they are too lazy to go out and find themselves a job. We make far more then any mininium wage job would pay. I personally bring home $19 dollars an hour and I just started. I am only 19 years old and going to school full time so I would consider this to be a pretty well paying job given the circumstances... What in your right mind gives you the right to harass these collectors? They are actually out there working for their families trying to collect from people who don't pay their bills.. that just confuses me. I talk to many people each day telling me their unemployed and I need to get a life and stop calling.. Really? You are the one sitting on your ass while I am working.. Who needs to get a job now? I have never paid a bill late in my life and never will.

^^^ This 19 year old with the intellect of fruitfly, as evidenced by the preceding post, is employed by Cavalry???

Laughable at best.

I suppose that an earlier post re: Cavalry employees being high school dropouts wasn't that far from the mark after all! Wow!

I would rather eat a bowl of live maggots doused with fermented puss than to sell my soul to the Devil and work for a bottom-feeding excuse for a company such as Cavalry.

You must be proud???

You must not know any better.

well after reading about a hundred post, I have came to the conclusion that there is a way to stop the harassment if the debt is not yours.
First be very calm and polite
second ask for the address and mame of the caller
second ask what date and time it where they are calling you from as well as what extension the conversation is being recorded on
now here comes the smart part:
four ask for all information of the account holder including soc security date of birth orginal address of the account holder
now you have all the information you need to dispute the claim
Most of the time the will not want to furnish you with the information however if this is your information you have a right to it
after obtaining this information this is is the last thing you need the employees first name and employee identifier number
so now we are at number 5 and I have just used for my father
Sir or Madam, this is not my debt and I have discussed this with numerous individuals at your company, In my state it is a felony for a person to make repeated calls with the intention to harrass a person, and the employee calling can be held criminally liable

so since have made the request for the account information and either it was or was not mine, now that you understand, whether you agree or not you do understand that I have informedyou that this account is not mine please do not contact me again, and if you do I will obtain a felony warrant for your arrest for the harrassing phone call and by the way if you furnish my information to another collection company I will again sign the warrant for you as a conspiritor in the constant harrassment

with this in mind if you call me again and once you are convicted of the harrassing calls and you will be the you will also leave yourself open for civil litigation

You do not know what you are talking about. Do you know these people? I think not. Do not act as if your God and can see all! You andyour husband's employers do make mistakes. You should not be made privy to Cavalry Portfolio Services customer files and/or information, as you DO NOT work for them. It seems your husband is telling you things you have no right to know. Just because you husband works for this company does not mean they do not make mistakes, nor should you automatically assume that anyone with a problem about how this company conducts business, is a dead beat. I could ASSSUME you are a jerk and should grow up and stop petulantly making comments online because someone said the company your husband works for is horriblen not your husband. If both do your job with respect and dignity and treat others this way, then why do you care what anyone else says. FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

We started getting calls from 866-883-0399 which I traced to Cavalry Portfolio Services thru several websites. They are coming in on our PRIVATE, UNLISTED business line which is used for very specific limited purposes. We have had very little spam calls on this line UNTIL we started looking to get ROOFING QUOTES. We got one for NESCOR ROOFING and even signed a contract with INTERLOCK ROOFING, both from inquiries at The BigE New England States fair in September 2012. We NEVER Signed ANTHING with NESCOR, and CANCELLED the ROOFING CONTRACT within the 3 day grace period with INTERLOCK. These calls started only about 12 HOURS after cancelling the INTERLOCK Roofing Contract; they ALSO have an 866 number. I don't think this is coincidence, and now we must wait to see if CRIMINAL INTERLOCK returns our deposit of over $2200. If they have turned around and put a debt on our credit based on a LEGALLY VOIDED CONTRACT, we will be SUEING INTERLOCK LIFETIME ROOFING - as well as CAVALRY PORTFOLIO SERVICES for TRIPLE DAMAGES.

In 1987 my daughter would get on the school bus and I would stroll my two babies with us to the bus stop. It was in CA. One morning I left the older baby in her crib asleep because the bus stop was so close to the house. I know better now. I know I made a big mistake. A child came running to me saying a woman had my baby! The woman claimed she found my daughter outside but it was much later before she could open the door herself. My first instinct was to thank her and not accuse her of breaking into my house. But I wonder if she didn't come in through the sliding glass door and my child was actually saved from a kidnapper by a little Army boy! Thank God for Army Brats! Oh, by the way, the bill collectors were the only ones making threats against us. Some of them were pretty bad. I got a call later from a man who said "We didn't know you had two of them!" So if people seem like they are evil they might be more evil than you know. Don't even talk to them. Call the police and report any threats.

And I am so tired of YOUR agressive collection type attittude and your husband's. Don't you think something must be wrong with the company if this many people complain? By the way, They harrassed me too many times ( might have been your perfect husband), and then they were kissing my ass when my attorney told them that it was an identity theft and it was certainly not my account. So there, you people and with all your crap you are talking about, not everybody owes to your crappy company.

If they or any Debt collector files suit do not ignore the Service. They will be awarded a default judgement.Answer the complaint by denying the allegations to The Court and a copy to The suing Attorney. This was me another lifetime ago and many were dismissed once it came before A judge.Settlement at that point is easy to for pennies on a dollar.
